The Dr. Robert G. Peters Scholarship Fund for Early Childhood Education
Established in 2025 through a generous gift from the Samuel N. & Mary Castle Foundation, this fund commemorates the work and service of Dr. Robert G. Peters, former Hanahau‘oli Head of School, founder of the Hanahau‘oli Professional Development Center, and former President of the Board of Trustees of the Samuel N. & Mary Castle Foundation. Early childhood educators are invited to apply for 1 scholarship per person, per school year, to attend one of the following PDC programs:
The Hanahau‘oli Teacher Collaborative: An Institute for Interdisciplinary Curriculum Design - This 7-day intensive is offered annually in the summer and is facilitated by a team of 10+ current and retired Hanahau‘oli School faculty, alongside lead facilitator Dr. Robert G. Peters. Up to (2) $1,650 scholarships are awarded per school year.
Another upcoming early childhood workshop at Hanahau‘oli School - Scholarships for participation in other PDC professional development programs will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to educators who meet the criteria indicated in the form below.
This scholarship aims to fund and provide professional recognition for early childhood educators engaging in the essential practice of life-long learning. Scholarship recipients are asked to share a reflection about their learning and how it has or will inform their teaching practice for potential sharing on the Hanahau‘oli PDC website. In sharing these extended resources, we hope to provide other educators with additional resources and inspiration as we as an education community work together to promote a better future society for today’s children.
