Hui Hanahauʻoli will once again join members of the larger community in caring for our nearby Makiki stream in honor of Earth Day. All Hanahauʻoli students, parents, and guests are invited to participate!
4 Stations need your kokua:
1) Hawaii Nature Center
2) Lo'i O Moleka
3) Halau Ku Mana
4) Archie Baker Park (meet BWS pumping station).
There will be shuttles from Lincoln Elementary and Hanahau'oli School to the work stations. Work from 0830-1130 and join Halau Ku Manu for food, and entertainment from 1130-1330.!
Work will include removal of debris/trash from Makiki Stream and surrounding areas. There will also be planting. There will be some tools available, but we encourage that you bring our own and mark them well.
Celebrating Hanahauʻoli’s Centennial must include sharing about progressive education -- the cornerstone and the heart of our school since its founding in 1918. The community is invited to engage in deeper conversations about progressive education, particularly its nature/characteristics along with its relevance for current times and the futures our children will experience. The symposium will include nationally-renowned expert Alfie Kohn, a panel of educators representing different sectors of our educational community, and professional dialogue.
Location: University of Hawaii Kennedy Theatre
