Hanahau‘oli, which translates as “joyous work,” is a place where students are able to grow socially, emotionally, cognitively, physically, creatively, and morally. At Hanahau‘oli, we believe that each community member thrives in an environment where all perspectives and worldviews are discussed and celebrated. Our goal is to cultivate and graduate lifelong learners, creative thinkers, passionate problem-solvers, and impactful citizens.
Information about applying for 2019-2020
Applications for the 2019-2020 school year will be available on October 1, 2018. Please scroll down to our Application Timeline to learn more about our admissions process.
Please be aware that our main entry point is Junior Kindergarten. We do not accept Kindergarten applications. Applications will be due by noon Hawaii time on December 1, 2018.
Junior Kindergarten applicants for the 2019-2020 school year must have been born within the following dates to be eligible to apply:
- Boys: July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015
- Girls: September 1, 2014 through August 31, 2015

2019-2020 application Timeline
Jan 1 - Sept 30, 2018
The online application becomes available for new students entering Junior Kindergarten. Applications are also accepted for grades 1-6 on space available basis (please see eligibility dates). Hanahau‘oli School utilizes an online application process.
Oct - Nov
On Wednesday mornings parents are invited to attend a docent tour of the school campus and meet with the admissions director. The tour takes about an hour.
Applications and $125 fee must be completed and submitted online by noon Hawaii time on December 1, 2018.
Teacher Reference forms are due back to Hanahau‘oli. Please give a copy of the form with a stamped envelope addressed to Hanahau‘oli to your child's current teacher once you have submitted an application.

Interviews for Junior Kindergarten and Grades 1-6 are held on several Saturday mornings in January and February. The interview takes about an hour and a half and there is an informational meeting for parents during the child’s interview.

Financial Aid applications are due for applying students. Please see the Financial Aid FAQs for more information.

If all documents and the application fee are received by the deadline a decision letter will be mailed in mid April. The common reply date for all HAIS schools is May 10th.
