The Parents Annual Fund 2007-2008 The Parents Annual Fund (PAF) is supported by current parents at Hanahau`oli. For the second year in a row, the PAF achieved 100% parent participation in the 2006-07 fiscal year! The leadership of the Hui Hanahau`oli parent organization and the PAF class representatives helped to educate and encourage the entire parent community to donate to the school last year. Reaching this goal is a significant statement of how much this community cares for the school and the education their children receive here. There are many ways to give to the Parents Annual Fund - by check, credit card, on-line via the school's website, participating in a matching gift program through a company, or through programs like Foodland's Give Aloha program which takes place in September. Each and every gift is used to further children’s learning by supporting enriched instructional programs, technology needs, faculty compensation and campus maintenance. PAF funds also support the Louisa Palmer Scholarship Fund which ensures that children whose families might not otherwise be able to afford a Hanahau`oli education can attend the school. Tuition only covers 86% of the actual cost to educate a child at Hanahau`oli; the difference is made up with giving from the Hanahau`oli `ohana and endowment interest income. The Annual Fund goal for 2007-2008 is $378,500 which helps to defray financial aid and the school's operating budget of $3,572,129. FOODLAND’S GIVE ALOHA Thank you for your support of Hanahau`oli School through Foodland's Give Aloha Program! A very easy way to donate to your favorite charity, Foodland and Sack N Save stores accept donations at the checkout stand for any non-profit who registered for the program. Donations are accepted throughout the entire month of September. Created in honor of Foodland's founder, Maurice Sullivan, Foodland and Sack ‘n Save stores, along with Western Union Foundation, set aside a pot of matching gift funds each year. This year, that pot was $285,000. Those matching gift monies were divided up and given to every non profit who received a donation through Give Aloha. For 2007, we received a record-breaking 148 donations from our parents and friends, and had the highest amount of participation in dollars ever: $16,804 donated to the school and $4,262 matched by Foodland and Western Union Foundation, for a total of $21,066. Thanks go out in large part to the parent singing group "The Busboys" who sang at numerous assemblies and open houses with their brand new hit single: "77.....501...."! A big Thank You to Foodland, Western Union Foundation, and all of YOU for participating in this very easy way to help contribute to your favorite "school hidden behind the mock orange hedge"! |
