Hanahau‘oli School welcomes new Director of Institutional Advancement

HONOLULU (January 4, 2012)—Hanahau‘oli School announces the appointment of Selena Ching as Director of Institutional Advancement. She succeeds Patrice Y. Ho, who retired at the end of December after 22 years of employment at the school.

For the past eight years, Ching has been the executive director of the Honolulu Youth Symphony. A graduate of Tufts University with an MBA from McLaren School of Business, she brings a strong background in fund development, marketing and public relations to Hanahau`oli School.

Ching is a board member of the Hawaii Alliance of Nonprofit Organizations, a recipient of the Hawaii Community Foundation’s Ho‘okele Award, a Pacific Century Fellow (Class of 2006) and a Pacific Business News Forty Under 40 recipient (2007). She served as assistant director of development for Rockefeller University in New York, a special events director for the School of American Ballet in New York and an events associate for the San Francisco Aids Foundation.

At Hanahau‘oli, Ching will be a member of the senior administrative staff and responsible for all advancement activities. She will be working with the Head of School and the Board of Trustees to align development goals with overall school strategic initiatives and execute all fund raising activities. She will also oversee all external publications, marketing and website supervision.

Dr. Robert Peters, EdD, Head of School, said, “Selena is a seasoned fund raiser who brings a wealth of experience to Hanahau‘oli along with a commitment to the education of young children. We are delighted she has agreed to join our staff to help Hanahau‘oli further its mission.”

Ching lives with her husband and two children in East Oahu.

Hanahau‘oli School is located at 1922 Makiki Street, Honolulu, Hawaii 96822. On the web at www.hanahauoli.org.
