I give to the Parent Annual Fund because it is amazing to give back to the school that gives my child so much in learning, doing, and experiencing the world around her.
Parents Annual Fund
The Parents Annual Fund 2011-2012
The Parents Annual Fund (PAF) represents that portion of the school's Annual Fund that is given by current parents at Hanahau`oli. The leadership of the Hui Hanahau`oli parent organization and the PAF class representatives help to educate and encourage the entire parent community to donate to the school. Over the last five years, we have reached an average 98% parent participation in our Parents Annual Fund, with two of those years (including 2010-2011) reaching 100%! Reaching this level is a significant statement of how much this community cares for the school and the education their children receive here.
There are many ways to give to the Parents Annual Fund - by check, credit card, on-line via the school's website, participating in a matching gift program through a company, or through programs like Foodland's Give Aloha program which takes place in September. Each and every gift is used to further children’s learning by supporting enriched instructional programs, technology needs, faculty compensation and campus maintenance. PAF funds also support the Louisa Palmer Scholarship Fund which ensures that children whose families might not otherwise be able to afford a Hanahau`oli education can attend the school.
Tuition only covers 89% of the actual cost to educate a child at Hanahau`oli; the difference of over $2,000 is made up with giving from the Hanahau`oli `ohana and endowment interest income.
The Annual Fund goal for 2011-2012 is $449,125 which supports the school's ongoing operations and financial aid needs. Hanahau`oli is deeply grateful for the extraordinary support given by its entire `ohana, and especially it's current parents, every fiscal year.
Foodland's Give Aloha Program
A very easy way to donate to your favorite charity, Foodland and Sack N Save stores accept donations at the checkout stand for qualified non-profits - which includes Hanahau`oli School. Now in its 12th year, Foodland uses this program to encourage philanthropy and support of non profit organizations in our state. The program runs every year during the month of September, in honor of Foodland's founder, Maurice Sullivan.
All you need to do is show your Maika`i card to any cashier, make a donation to Hanahau`oli (#77501), and turn in a copy of your receipt to the office. At the end of the month, Foodland will add up all the donations we have received and will then give us a percentage match of the $325,000 they are giving away this year! It's that easy, and for parents, it's a great way to contribute to the Parent's Annual Fund.
The 2010-2011 year was one of the most successful Give Aloha years. We received 128 donations from our parents and friends which amounted to $16,927 in gifts. Matched with $3,717 by Foodland and Western Union Foundation, Hanahau`oli received a total of $20,644, a 27% increase over the prior year. Thank you to everyone who participated and especially to those who reached beyond the current parent community and asked their friends and grandparents to participate too!
