Governance

Hanahau`oli School is governed by a Board of Trustees composed of 22 voting members.  In addition, there are three non-voting members including the Head of School, the Hui President and Hui President-elect who serve on the Board.   The Board has four officers, six standing committees and creates ad-hoc committees as needed to support strategic initiatives.  Committees, except for the Committee on Trustees, include both Board members and non-Board members.   Board terms are for four years.

The purpose of the Board is to guarantee the long-term sustainability of the school to ensure continued fulfillment of the school’s mission.  It is future-oriented as it sets the strategic direction for the school, considering the school’s needs over the long-term.  It hires the Head of School and delegates the day-to-day operation and management of the school to the Head who is charged with implementing the Board’s policies.  The Board meets most months throughout the year to monitor progress toward meeting the strategic goals and to set policy.
